Mophie Powerstation Wireless XL Portable Battery Review
There’s nothing quite as frustrating as seeing your phone or tablet’s battery level dip into the red zone when you’re out and about. That’s where a reliable portable power bank comes in handy. And when it comes to reliable power banks, mophie’s Powerstation Wireless XL is a strong contender. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I must say, it’s been quite the game-changer.
Design
mophie’s Powerstation Wireless XL is sleek and compact, making it an ideal travel companion. Its minimalist design, featuring a smooth, matte finish from its fabric exterior, is a refreshing change from the flashy, attention-grabbing aesthetics of some other power banks. It fits comfortably in the hand and easily slides into a pocket or bag.
The Powerstation Wireless XL boasts a USB-C and a USB-A port, allowing you to charge multiple devices simultaneously. There’s also a four-light LED power indicator that shows you how much juice you have left at a glance.
Features
- 10,000 mAh battery
- 18W charging power via USB-C port
- Qi-enabled
- Dual charging with USB-A and USB-C
- Comes with a charging cable (USB-A to USB-C)
Performance
In terms of performance, the mophie Powerstation Wireless XL has not disappointed. The 18W USB-C charging feature works as advertised, charging my devices noticeably faster than standard charging.
I was able to charge my iPhone from 0% to 50% in just about 30 minutes, which is impressive considering the iPhone 12 Pro can take about 20W of power, and this 18W USB-C gave it all it can. I see the wireless feature as something that is just to save your ass in bad situations.
The Powerstation’s battery life is also commendable. On a single charge, I was able to fully juice up my iPhone 12 Pro twice and still had a bit of power left. For those that forget their cables everywhere, you can also drop your phone on the Powerstation Wireless XL to charge via Qi wireless charging. It’s not that fast, so I do not recommend it as the main charging setup. However, it can come in handy for your Android buddy or if you forgot the cable.
Conclusion
In a world where our lives are increasingly tied to our devices, a reliable power bank is a must-have. The mophie Powerstation Wireless XL delivers on all fronts - design, features, and performance. It’s compact, powerful, and charges devices quickly, making it an excellent choice for anyone in need of a portable power solution.
If I were to nitpick, I’d say I wish it came with a built-in cable. But that’s a minor quibble and doesn’t detract from the overall excellence of the product. So if you’re in the market for a power bank, the mophie Powerstation Wireless XL should be high on your list. It’s a solid investment that will keep your devices powered up when you need them most.
