When looking for a new clear case, you often fall into one of these two categories: a full TPU case that will stretch over time and yellow a great deal, or a polycarbonate rigid plastic case that does not do a good job of shock absorption. And worse, it will even yellow a great deal!

When searching for such type of case, I found the Hybrid Clear MagSafe case for iPhone 14 Pro by Elago. They also make this case for more recent models of phones, so everything below applies to all their variants.

This case promises to be non-yellowing, shock-absorbing, and even a great protector of your high-value investment! Let’s see if it stands out!

Design

Elago has tried to mix in the best of both worlds with this case. The phone itself is surrounded by a shock-absorbing TPU that is thicker on the corners. It should disperse the impact all around the edge of the device.

They also used polycarbonate for the back side. This way, the MagSafe ring is well centered and due to the hard factor of PC, it will stay strong over time.

Both the camera array and the screen are protected by a raised lip. 1.7mm for the camera array and 1.5mm for the screen. This way, you can fit a screen protector and be certain that rubbing your phone face down will not scratch the screen.

Performance

I’ve tasked my son to live with this case for a few weeks, and I must say that every time I see him on his phone, the nice purple color does leak through in a very nice way. It really does showcase the device!

He did drop his phone on a number of occasions and still no scratches or cracks. The TPU bumper seems to be able to withstand shocks and tumbles like it’s nothing! The MagSafe ring on the back makes it pass through so it can work on accessories like the Nomad One Stand.

I’ve looked closely at his camera lenses and screen and I don’t see any scratches either. Let’s check again in a few months and see if the yellowing has begun or not.

Update: About 4 months later, the yellowing has still not started like I’m used to seeing on JetTech cases I’ve used in the past. I think Elago has a great recipe against yellowing!

Conclusion

If you are looking for a modern case that does not scream in your face and lets your device shine through with more than apt protection, the Elago Hybrid Case ranks very high on my list of best cases, and once again, we are given a great product by Elago. On some of the pictures, the corners might be a bit too bulky, but in the end, it is very, very comfortable to use!
