Nomad Stand One, MagSafe Upright Stand Review
Not too long ago, I reviewed the first generation MagSafe Mount Stand, where you installed your own MagSafe charging puck. One might wonder how they could even update or improve this device. Well, this hasn’t stopped them from trying to reach new heights!
The Stand One by Nomad now comes with its own internal MagSafe-compatible charging apparatus. All you need to provide is your own charging brick. For this review, they provided me with the tiny 35W charger they also sell, and it’s ridiculously small!
Design
The Stand One traded the matte beaded finish for a new slick, shiny plastic in the front and an equally nice matte finish on the back. The new design fits much better with their other products like the Nomad Base One Max. We still have the great rubber foot that makes it stable and non-slippery.
The main design difference when comparing it with the MagSafe Mount Stand is that the charging puck is now set on top of the stand rather than inside it. This makes a significant difference for the iPhone 14 Pro and more recent models, where camera block alignment with the MagSafe charger is crucial.
The stand comes with a quality braided cable that adds a touch of luxury to an already great phone holder. It requires a strong enough charging brick, and Nomad provides excellent solutions with their 20W, 30W, 65W, or 130W models. I was provided the 35W Power Adapter for this review, and I was impressed by how compact it is.

Performance
The most important aspect of a dock is how well it works with current and future phones. The previous generation of the MagSafe Mount Stand was great until Apple released new phones with a large camera array. My son has an iPhone 14 Pro, and he can’t use my old Mount Stand in vertical mode as the camera array doesn’t align properly with the MagSafe magnets.
The new Stand One, with its included raised MagSafe magnet, accommodates large camera arrays like those in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. I tested it with his phone, and it works well! Compared to the previous MagSafe Mount Stand with its flush design, where the camera gets in the way and the stand can only be used horizontally.
The weight of the stand remains substantial and makes for a very stable dock. You can pull your phone by the top and tilt it to detach it from the magnet with the dock barely moving.
Conclusion
Nomad took an amazing product with the MagSafe Mount Stand and made it even better with increased compatibility while keeping the qualities of the original dock. If you’re looking for a great dock that fits Nomad’s new design language with its shiny plastic and matte rubber MagSafe magnet, the Stand One is the dock to consider.
I use mine every single day, and it keeps my phone visible, charging, and always ready for the rest of the day with a full battery. I strongly recommend it!
