Nomad Charge Key Limited Edition [Review]

There aren’t many products that fit in your pocket and can really help you when you need it most. People will think of a Swiss Army knife, or a phone. But that phone will most probably die when you’re away from home. You found a charger, or you have a battery pack with you, but you forgot the cable. It has happened to me quite a few times.

Nomad has a solution. The Charge Key Limited Edition comes in a cool new orange color that matches the iPhone 17 Pro.

Design

The Charge Key is a very compact cable that fits right next to your keys. If you have an Orbitkey, it’s basically the same size and fits in your pocket just as well. And if it’s a Nomad x Orbitkey Key Organizer, even better!

The cable itself is high quality, just like other Nomad products. It can charge your devices at up to 240W, and if you need to transfer data, like large video files after a day of filming, it supports transfer rates of up to 10Gbps, or approximately 1.25GB/s. It’s not the fastest out there, but when you have nothing else around, it can definitely save your day!

Features

  • Color-matched to Apple’s Cosmic Orange
  • Fast charges devices at up to 240W
  • Supports data transfer up to 10Gbps (USB 3.1)
  • Braided nylon cable
  • Electroplated zinc cable housings
  • Cable tips secure magnetically
  • USB-C to USB-C

Performance

It’s a cable, a good cable. It works!

In all seriousness, this cable fits well in a pocket and serves a great purpose as a compact cable that’s always with you. You can even keep one in a bag with a spare set of keys for emergencies.

The only thing some people might not appreciate is that the orange finish scratches easily. It doesn’t matter much to me because I like the patina these things develop, but I thought it was worth mentioning, since some people are very careful with their belongings and this might be important to them.

Conclusion

Overall, the Nomad Charge Key is a great little cable that can help you charge and transfer data when you need it most and don’t have your bag of cables around. The color is great and matches the iPhone 17 Pro perfectly. Just be mindful that it can scratch easily, if that matters to you.
