Great Overview of the iPod Nano Evolution
Over at 512px Stephen Hackett posted a great article covering all of the generations of iPod Nano from the first to the seventh.
There’s no doubt that the once-mighty iPod line is now just a blip on Apple’s radar, but the iPod nano is still here. While the case for dedicated music players is harder and harder to make, I know I’ll miss them when they’re inevitably gone.
My wife received a PRODUCT:RED second gen iPod nano when she purchased her MacBook Pro in 2007. A time when the Back to School promo was actually amazing (she also got a free Canon printer/scanner). It still works perfectly and is in pristine condition.
I have repaired a few first gen Nanos for friends and even made upgrades to a CompactFlash card solution to replace broken spinning disks. It really was a disruptive and fun little product.
Still very sad when I see the iPod line hanged on the wall like a simple Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter…
