As I often do when looking for new products, I stumble on never before seen products that sometimes have a novel idea, something I could easily see myself use in my everyday life.
When looking for a new case for my iPhone 6S Plus, I stumbled across the Spigen line of products. Many interesting case, but one stood out for me. The Thin Fit is a very low profile fit with a rubbery feel that holds better the phone in your hand and it has a spot to add a metal plate. Why would a case have a plate? To be able to use it with a magnetic mount that is!
The Thin Fit wraps your 6 or 6S Plus from the sides and preserves the round edges of the 6-generation iPhones while giving you a better grip of the larger device. It does not offer protection on the top and bottom sides but still covers the corners, those that so easily gets kinked when the phone is dropped.
In terms of drop protection, it sure helps to protect the device as the rigid but seemingly shock absorbing case looks good for shock protection. It will not save your device from building high falls like the Griffin Survivor cases , but for a case that still fits great in your jeans, it’s an appreciated added protection.
All the buttons and ports are cut through and the case is about 1mm longer than the bottom part of the phone so it should fit perfectly on your current docks.
- Rigid case with rubbery feeling
- Region to receive the magnetic plate
- Available in 6 colours
- Compatible with iPhone 6/6S, iPhone 6/6S Plus
The installation on the phone is very easy and does not seem to be a danger for the buttons. It’s, however, harder to remove the case than to install it since the case is of the rigid type.
The grip is very good without being a total fingerprint magnet. It is not too grippy to prevent it from sliding inside your jean’s pocket. It’s a well-balanced grip factor.
The real feature this case offers that make it stand out of the crowd is the small recessed space where you can add a metal plate. What for you ask? Well, if you get the Spigen Magnetic Air Vent Mount, you can now magnetically attach your iPhone to your car’s air vent without the need of snaps or grips. You simply drop it on it and the metal plate hidden between the case and the iPhone will make sure it sticks there quite firmly!
Best Buddies, the Magnetic Air Vent!
The Magnetic Air Vent Mount includes the mount that attaches itself to your air vent. It simply slides on one of the blades and firmly holds itself in position. The rubber is very grippy, but not too much that you would rip the vent out when removing it.
In the box you have two metal plates, one that perfectly fits in the back of the Thin Fit case and one circular one for other devices like your standalone GPS or another phone.
The freedom of movement from portrait to landscape is something I did not have with my previous mount. And with so many apps now working in landscape mode, the Magnetic Air Vent Mount is the greatest thing since sliced microchips!
If you are on the lookout for a great case that gives you a better grip for that iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, without adding too much bulk but still adding some drop protection, take a look at the Thin Fit from Spigen. It usually runs from 9.99$ to 19.99$ (currently at 9.99$ when writing these lines).
And while you’re at it, also get the Magnetic Air Vent Mount , it’s a very affordable combo that will make sure your phone stays on its mount securely and lets you go landscape without the need to stop the car and adjust the mount.
At the moment, you can get both the case and the mount for 18$ on Amazon! Links below in the review summary!
