iOS 10.3 introduces a major change by using a brand new file system introduced by Apple at the last WWDC. The Apple File System, or APFS, is Apple’s idea of a file system that is modern and future proof.

File System Conversion When you update to iOS 10.3, your iOS device will update its file system to Apple File System (APFS). This conversion preserves existing data on your device. However, as with any software update, it is recommended that you create a backup of your device before updating.

Apple also added a “Find my AirPods” feature to Find My Phone so that your missing AirPods will emit a strong noise to help you find them.

Find My iPhone now supports Location and Play Sound for AirPods.

  • Location and Play Sound currently work only from the iOS device most recently used with your AirPods.
  • Play Sound emits a noise from the AirPods that reaches a high volume after a few seconds. Please remove both AirPods from your ears before testing this feature.

Also, the SOS feature is added for India users, a new media query for Mobile Safari to “prefers-reduced-motion” to help with accessibility. There also might be problems with Lightning video adapters.

I’m currently installing it so I’m hoping for a new Dark Mode hidden away in Accessibility… ;)
