Tim Broddin is one clever fellow! 🙂 Realizing that Apple used it’s own map technology on the WWDC mini-site, he discovered that it’s actually very nice Google Maps API alternative that, for the moment, only needs a little short-circuit to work on any website.

By changing the bootstrap URL used by the library he was able to load the map from fruitymaps.com, his demo site.

It is undocumented but it basically loads a very nice Apple Maps on the web interface. Complete with transition, satellite view and all.

This will surely be announced at the WWDC conference and offer a good alternative for web developers to Google Maps API.
